Madea Goes To Jail
Last weekend, I went to the movie theaters and saw Madea Goes to Jail. It was a funny movie and as always, Tyler Perry has a message. His message in this movie was forgiveness. Tyler Perry, the director, often cameos on his projects and is, in fact, Madea. A gender issue I have noticed in his movies is the fact that the leading woman is always in some sort of distress. Whether it is the woman being put out by her husband (Diary of a Mad Black Woman), cheating on her husband (Family that Prays) or had a tough life and made mistakes (Madea Goes to Jail). Either way, the woman is in distress. At the same token, the leading man becomes the "Knight in shining armor" and saves the woman from her distress. This makes me think that Tyler Perry must infer that women are somehow needing a man to take care of them and to save them from the ills of the world.
