Dr.Phil Show

I was watching the Dr.Phil show today. It was one parents who kids are out of control. In most cases, Dr.Phil seems to deem the man as the disciplinarian or supposed to be the disciplinarian. The woman seems to be singled out as having to be more nurturing. It seems to put men and women in gender roles instead of emphasizing the importance of shared responsibility of both parents. In one case, the roles seemed switched because the man was being more nurturing and left the woman to be the one in control of the children's discipline. In my opinion I think that both parents should share responsibility of the discipline and nurturing of the children. Just because someone is of a certain sex, does not mean that they are pigeon-holed into a certain role.
